Market Analyst (13-month Maternity Leave Coverage Contract)

Position Summary

Renaissance is looking for a proactive and inquisitive Market Analyst to join our business development team. This role will be based out of our office located on the University of British Columbia’s main campus, in beautiful Vancouver, BC.

Reporting to the Chief Business Development Officer, the Market Analyst will be responsible for independently developing and leading our market and industry research. The successful candidate will also be responsible for aiding in the generation, development, and implementation of marketing materials and business strategies for Renaissance BioScience and its subsidiaries.

This role is ideal for someone who is curious, inquisitive and thrives on continuously looking for information and opportunities that can change the course of business.

Responsibilities Include

  • Development, implementation and delivery of regular market intelligence updates and dashboards including identification of significant changes, opportunities and mitigating recommendations.
  • Writes and creates marketing and business analytics, intelligence reports, comparables, briefing documents and recommendations. Delivers information through the development of clear and concise written reports and/or presentations.
  • Supports continuous market intelligence and environmental monitoring by building and maintaining both internal and external networks to support intelligence and knowledge gathering.
  • Develops and maintains a market and competitor database for each of Renaissance’s business areas to facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Develops an understanding of the key business and industry drivers to create competitive assessments/market reports. Identifies important market changes and clearly communicates the impact/opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Influences by identifying conclusions and/or recommendations that combine multiple inputs, data points and facts (trends, internal and external insights, business context, legislative changes) and inspires change through the delivery of these insights in a simple, compelling manner.
  • Identifies business opportunities and suggests strategies to achieve them.
  • Assists in maintaining a coherent branding and marketing strategy for Renaissance’s products.
  • Undertakes additional inside marketing, sales and technical support responsibilities as requested.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Intelligence, information systems, science or the equivalent experience. MBA is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a business intelligence, market analysis or similar role, preferably in life sciences.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and succinctly summarize detailed market, financial, statistical, scientific, and regulatory data.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English to clearly express ideas in written and oral communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in a team setting; strong self-starter work ethic/attitude.
  • Strong coordination/collaboration skills necessary to gather additional insights from internal teams, industry partners and market data providers on a regular basis.
  • Technically savvy with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, database creation and the ability to perform internet and database research.
  • Demonstrated problem solving attitude; including the ability to optimize practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and allocate time/resources accordingly.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and thrive in an entrepreneurial, growing, and changing work environment.

Position Details
This is a 13-month full-time contract role. General workdays are Monday to Friday.
