Position Summary

Renaissance is looking for a collaborative and detail orientated Research Technician, Entomology to join our Research Team. This role will be based out of our offices located on the University of British Columbia’s main campus, in beautiful Vancouver, BC.  

Reporting to the Research Scientist – Entomology, the Research Technician, Entomology will be responsible for carrying out assigned experimental and maintenance tasks which support entomology related research projects. This role provides the opportunity to work with a variety of insect species and build skills in entomology, assay setup and molecular techniques. This research forms a key component of our RNAi effector delivery pipeline for creating novel yeast biotechnologies used in crop protection and other agricultural applications. The successful candidate will be involved in cutting-edge research with the goal of translating results from the lab into real-world products in the field. Discoveries will be published in peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as in patents.

Our ideal candidate is a recent graduate that thrives on creative problem solving and is excited about biology, agriculture and working with insects (beetles, moths, larvae).

This is a full-time, permanent role.  General workdays are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; occasional evening and/or weekend work required to meet deadlines.
