Dr. Matthew Dahabieh promoted to Chief Science Officer at Renaissance BioScience Corp.

Vancouver, Canada — Renaissance BioScience Corp., a leading global yeast technology company, is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew Dahabieh, Ph.D, to the position of Chief Science Officer. Previously — from 2014 until his promotion to CSO in early January — Dr. Dahabieh was Renaissance’s Head of Research and Vice President, Business Development.

“Matthew has done outstanding work in his first two years with Renaissance,” said Dr. John Husnik, Renaissance’s CEO and previous CSO, who now takes on the role of Chief Innovation Officer. “Matthew’s recent appointment as CSO reflects our confidence in his strong executive and scientific capabilities to manage the continued expansion of our research program on many challenging fronts.”

“The Renaissance research department and program is growing quickly and our team has already had some impressive achievements,” commented Dr. Dahabieh. “I’m proud to be appointed CSO, and am looking forward to continuing the efforts and results of our research group as we look to the future.”

Dr. Dahabieh holds a Ph.D in biochemistry and molecular biology, as well as a master’s degree in genetics, both from the University of British Columbia. He joined Renaissance after completing his Postdoctoral Fellowship at The J. David Gladstone Institute in San Francisco, CA. During his time at Renaissance, he has led the company's efforts to raise more than $1.4 million in research funding. Matthew is also a co-inventor on two patents covering aspects of the company's proprietary yeast strain development platform.
