John Husnik, Ph.D. Founder, Director, and CEO

Dr. John Husnik is a leading researcher in the area of yeast strain development techniques, as well as having significant experience developing and applying novel and innovative yeast-based solutions to multiple food and beverage industry problems. Over the past five years, John and his team have worked tirelessly to advance the H2S-preventing wine yeast traits originally discovered and patented by Dr. Linda Bisson at the University of California, Davis. In addition, John and his team discovered, patented and are commercializing the acrylamide-reducing yeast technology owned by Renaissance BioScience Corp.

With two decades of experience in microbiology, food science and genetics and wine research and in driving R&D assets from bench to commercialization, John leads the company’s research team in advancing, expanding, and testing its proprietary technologies, protocols, and collaborations with global food and beverage companies. John earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Science from the University of Guelph, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. 

John's business experience began as a young man in a family operated business, where he learned the fundamental skills and principles required to build, operate and grow a successful business. He has hired and manages a dynamic team of hard-working creative scientists capable of research, design and development of valuable commercial technologies, along with an experienced business team to implement a global commercialization strategy for those technologies.
